What a morning! The 5th Annual ACC Ohana Walk brought together around 700 friends, families, supporters, volunteers, and community members for a joyful celebration of connection, healthy aging, and the spirit of Ohana—family.

The morning kicked off with inspiring and spirited words from Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, and Supervisor Patrick Kennedy, followed by the unmistakable sounds of the ACC Taiko Group that got everyone moving!

ACC honored the originators of the Ohana Walk as this year’s Grand Marshals, Wayne and Lynn Kurahara.  Wayne and Lynn made their grand entrance and were honored with fresh orchid leis, a Congressional Record from Congresswoman Doris Matsui, and reserved seating with morning snacks!

A special thank-you to ACC Board Member Jasmine Phu, who kept the morning flowing as our wonderful emcee and brought her own energy and enthusiasm to the celebration.

Congratulations to the Fong Bee Steppers for having the most team members, Beverly Kimura for the largest number of donations, Beverly Kimura again for the most fundraised by individual, and the Sakata Superstars for the most fundraised by a team!

Celebrating 10 Centenarians

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was our Centenarian Celebration, honoring 10 remarkable members of our community who have reached 100 years of age and beyond. Their lives, stories, and resilience remind us of the importance of staying connected, active, and engaged at every age.

The Celebration Continued!

The fun didn’t stop when the walk ended! Attendees enjoyed a full morning of music, dance, culture, and community, including:

And there was plenty more to explore, with 20+ sponsor and community booths, Sac State Health Hive wellness screenings, balloon animals, face painting, and activities for all ages.

From the walkers who showed up bright and early, to our incredible volunteers, sponsors, performers, community partners, board members, staff, and everyone who helped make the day possible—thank you!

Your presence helped make the 5th Annual ACC Ohana Walk more than an event. It was a celebration of what happens when a community comes together with compassion, connection, and a shared commitment to healthy aging.

Ohana is Hawaiian for Family!

What began as a small community walk has grown into one of ACC’s most meaningful annual traditions. Now in its 5th year, the Ohana Walk brings together families, friends, and community partners to celebrate connection, culture, and care for older adults.

ACC’s Ohana Walk is a vibrant celebration of the people who keep us strong—our families, friends, community organizations, and faith partners.

Last year, more than 1,000 participants of all ages came together to walk, connect, and support a shared cause. Their generosity helps ACC continue providing critical programs and services for older adults and their caregivers.

Join us this year and experience the spirit of Aloha while making a difference.  

Join us in honoring the 2026 Grand Marshalls Wayne & Lynn Kurahara!  Wayne and Lynn were the catalysts behind the origin of the first Ohana Walk, desiring to bring the ACC community, our “Ohana”, together in an active way following the pandemic lock-down and to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ACC.  Their spark has grown into an annual event that celebrates friendship, community and care!

Registration for the ACC Ohana Walk and Picnic includes:
2026 Ohana Walk T-shirt, Walk Wristband (for picnic admission and meal) and Swag Bag

This year’s picnic meal is Somen Salad topped with shredded chicken, carrots, cucumber, lettuce and green onions, served with a spring roll and gyoza.

$45 for Hoaloha, age 18-84

$25 for Keiki, age 2-17
(age 2 and under are FREE)

$25 for Kūpuna, age 85+

No registration required for infants under the age of 2

All proceeds benefit ACC Senior Services programs and services.

8:15 AM – Walk Program/Warm Up Starts at ACC
8:30 AM – Walk Route Opens
9:45 AM – Music and Entertainment Begins

NOON – Raffle Winners Announced!

Enjoy a scenic, customizable walk along the Greenhaven-Pocket Canal Parkway, followed by a community picnic at the ACC Campus.

– Choose between a 1-mile, 2-mile or 3-mile route.
– All routes are flat, wheelchair accessible, and family-friendly.
– Includes an optional 1/2-mile shaded greenbelt add-on.

No matter which route you choose, we all start and finish at the ACC Campus located at 7334 Park City Drive. With water stations, rest markers, and fun-filled check-in booths along the way, you will be feeling the ALOHA spirit!

Picnic Area Access
Opens at 9:00 AM
Registered walkers and others who have an Ohana Walk wristband will be allowed into the picnic area immediately following the walk. We will begin live music, activities, and community booths. 

Raffle Ticket Sales
9:30 AM – Noon
Purchase tickets for a chance to win an array of different prizes!
Proceeds benefit ACC Senior Services programs and services.

Parking
Parking is available in nearby locations:
– Meals on Wheels (7335 Park City Drive)
– Street parking in surrounding areas (abide by signage).

We strongly encourage carpooling.

Early T-Shirt & Packet Pick-Up

As a special gift to commemorate the event, all registered walkers will receive a limited edition Ohana Walk 2026 T-shirt and Swag Bag made possible by Dignity Memorial. Early pick up dates will be available for all walkers.  

All registered walkers can pick up T-shirts at ACC Senior Services, 7334 Park City Drive, Sacramento, before or on the day of the event, during any of these pickup times:

• Thursday, September 17th from 10 am – 2 pm

• Friday, September 18th from 10 am – 2 pm

 

• Saturday, September 19th from 7:30 am – 9:30 am

Once dates are announced, if you would like to pick up t-shirts for your entire team, or a group of 10+, please email development@accsv.org in advance. Group pick-ups will be pulled in advance.

Please Note: To avoid confusion, please inform your team members that you have already picked up their t-shirt and packet.
