Ohana Walk Embodied The Spirit of Aloha!

On Saturday, September 16th 2023, over 700 walkers descended upon the Pocket Canal Parkway choosing their 1-2-3 mile walking route.  The morning began with a festive gathering in the front parking lot of ACC Senior Services where participants enjoyed refreshments provided by Raley’s.

After choosing their route, participants made their way back to ACC to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon picnic.  From local community vendors to Drewski’s Food Truck – there was something for everyone.  The Pocket Pickers and ACC Guitar Ensembled played in the background as walkers perused the merchandise shop and picked up their pre-purchased ACC Community Cookbooks.

As they were waiting for the hot dog lunch to be served, the ever so spirited raffle ticket sales volunteers got the crowd energized and ready to win some big prizes!

The peak of the afternoon was the Centenarian Celebration.  ACC had the honor of celebrating 18 local area Centenarians in attendance with commendations from the offices of Congresswoman Doris Matsui and City Councilmember Rick Jennings.  Each Centenarian was bestowed a fresh orchid lei by ACC, a celebratory letter from Congresswoman Matsui and the Key to the City by Councilmember Jennings.  Be sure to check out the next edition of ACC NEWS for more about each honoree.

Thank you to the almost 1,100 registered participants and the community at large who helped us raise over $91,000, giving back over $5,000 to local non-profit partners and making an impactful donation of $5,000 to Maui Relief charities.
